If you have ever been interested in learning the frame drum, riq and doumbek, NOW is your chance to study with one of the best! Judy Piazza has been exploring music and sound for over 30 years. She is an extremely gifted percussionist, singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording artist, music therapist, and educator . Judy performs, facilitates workshops, and teaches nationally & internationally and is founder of Resonance & Rhythms. Join us on this unique journey with Judy to listen, learn and explore rhythm this summer.

The format for this study is 2 weekend events, each building upon the last. HOWEVER, we have opened up the second weekend to those who missed the first.  Please contact us to find out how to proceed.

Saturday (FOCUS ON FRAME DRUMS WITH AND WITHOUT JINGLES ... techniques (lap and standing styles), skill development, practice exercises, odd and even pulse rhythms, ensemble playing, spontaneous creative exploration, sense of rhythm development through synergizing voice, body, and drum), integration of song / chant and rhythm. 9 to 5:15.


Sunday, FOCUS ON DOUMBEK and BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
technique, skill development, practice exercises, Middle Eastern rhythms (odd and even pulse cycles), ensemble playing ... Although the focus of instruction will be on the doumbek, those who want to stay on frame drums will be able to strengthen and practice, and apply rhythms of the Middle East to the frame drum) ...  Recap, ensemble playing with Doumbeks and Frame Drums. 10 to 1pm



Includes all teachings and handouts, as well as the optional evening public gatherings. 
Accommodations and food are on your own.  They are plentiful and affordable in the area. .
